2022 Chapter Project:  AATG Chapter Day at Christmas Village in Baltimore

Picture
The Chapter organized a wonderful day for 150 local German learners and their teachers at the Baltimore Christmas Village in December. The excitement and energy from the students were a joy to experience and kudos to the teachers who managed the logistics. Participating schools: Centennial (Will Funk-Heiser), Laurel (Cerue Diggs), Liberty (Samantha Vasquez), Long Reach (Will Funk-Heiser), North County (Katrina Griffin & Kristin Malone). Board Members Deborah Mifflin, Amy Rill and Susanne Sutton were on hand to facilitate. Once again, our eyes were opened to the hoops these dedicated educators go through to give their students opportunities for cultural engagement outside of the classroom.

Julia Buyer from Christmas Village gave tours auf Deutsch while her colleague provided the tour in English. Under a cloudless, sunny sky, students feasted on Brezeln, Bratwurst und Pommes and had the chance to shop at the local and German booths for Christmas gifts and other delicacies.  It was just what we all needed to get into the Weihnachtsstimmung.

This was our 2022 Chapter Project supported by the national AATG with funding from the Bundesregierung.
